Monarchs in the Park

Sam's mum came to school one day last term and said that Monarch butterflies were swarming in a park in Avonside and she wanted to take Sam to see them. He was so lucky to see such a special event and we were lucky too, because he took the class camera to capture some of the action. The trees were filled with butterflies and Sam managed to bring one that had died back to school so we could get a close up look at a Monarch. The next day, we went online to learn about how to tell the difference between boy and girl Monarch butterflies. We learned that the girls have thicker black lines on their wings. Thanks to Sam and his mum for helping us with this learning.
