ART DAY #1

A few years ago, we had 'art days' at our school. The staff really enjoyed it and lots of children still remember the awesome time they had using lots of different media to create amazing art works.

We've decided to do it all again!

Here's some images from the time spent with me in Toroa.

We are working on FELTING.

First, we looked at lots of images of different uses of felt. We asked ourselves some questions as we viewed them: What can we see? Who might have used these? Why were they important? How were they made?
We talked about our ideas and learned some interesting things about how felt is created. We also learned how in history the process MAY have been accidentally stumbled upon by St. Christopher!
We looked at some images on the data projector of how to make felt balls.
We learned to use new vocabulary - roving, barbs, dunk, 90 degrees.
Finally, we made felt balls. We needed to carefully follow a process to make them successfully and it was difficult - we really needed to use our muscles!

It was a great (but exhausting!) day!

Please... if you see anyone around the school, and you want to know...

ask us...

HOW WE FELT!
